Camping in the woods surrounding Lowell, Oregon

A variety of National Forest, State and private campgrounds are located within a few minutes of Lowell, Oregon, all offering their own unique settings.

Many are wheelchair accessible and feature special attractions such as swimming, fishing, hiking, group sites and water-skiing.

Lowell offers hiking and biking enthusiasts many challenges and opprtunities for people at all levels of fitness and experience. These include almost 100 miles of trails in the nearby Willamette National Forest and the Eugene-to-the-Pacific Crest Trail which passes through Lowell. There are also beautiful country roads for the casual hiker or cyclist that connect Lowell with other adjoining scenic corridors.

Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy viewing the many species of flora and fauna that inhabit the area. The lakes serve as winter resting and feeding areas for as many as 2,000 migratory birds and provide habitat for resident bald eagle, muskrat, beaver, mink and otter.

Large game include deer, elk and the occasional bear.

Fish ladders and holding pools located below Dexter Dam are inhabited by local steelhead trout and chinook salmon which have returned from Alaska to spawn.
